Ulsrud Upper Secondary School, Oslo
Ulsrud Upper Secondary School is located at Bøler in southeast Oslo and has about 500 students and 85 staff. In the summer of 2019, four artists set about giving the school’s grey corridors and stairwells a colourful and artistic rejuvenation. After the walls had been given a bright new lease of life, it was time to replace worn out furniture with an interior that suited this new expression.

After searching the market for solid and colourful furniture, Vestre was chosen as the school’s preferred supplier. Over 40 different sitting solutions were delivered; everything from interconnected Code to specially adapted Porto. All the furniture had one thing in common, however: it was supplied in fire-retardant treated oiled oak.

Fire-retardant treatment of timber is a process we can apply to all indoor projects in order to comply with required standards for interior environments.

For steel components, we selected 26 different RAL colours from among 200 alternatives. These complemented the artwork on the walls and other interior elements, which further enhanced the cheerful surroundings, to the joy of both students and teachers alike.
