Vestre is taking part in two exhibitions during Milan Design Week, 12-17 April 2016: “Inside Norway” at the Salone Internazionale del Mobile trade fair and the “Inside Wood” exhibition curated by the Bergen Academy of Art and Design (KHiB).
Inside Norway – Salone del Mobile, Fiera Milano, Hall 10 A05
This is the third time that Vestre has exhibited at the world’s largest furniture fair, and this year it will be there with the Bloc sunbench. “Inside Norway” is a joint Norwegian exhibition under the auspices of the Federation of Norwegian Industries Furniture+Interior in collaboration with Innovation Norway in Milan, the Norwegian Embassy in Rome, the Norwegian Consulate in Milan and various Norwegian textile and furniture manufacturers.
The official opening will be performed by Ambassador Bjørn T. Grydeland at 4.30 pm on Wednesday, 13 April.
Inside Wood – Studio Ventura, Via Ventura 5, Lambrate
The Bergen Academy of Art and Design (KHiB) took the initiative for this exhibition, in which students and the research environment at KHiB create a show on the theme of wood as a material together with recognised designers. Vestre is exhibiting the Stripes bench designed by Lars Tornøe.
Today’s requirements for sustainable solutions and an environmentally friendly lifestyle have led to greater focus on renewable materials. The exhibition will highlight the exploration of wood and reflect on its use, both in everyday life and in production. Key in this are the tree and the forest as identity-creating elements, and how this symbiosis influences society and people. The project leader is Professor Dave Vikøren of the Department of Design.
“An oak tree grows for 300 years, lives for 300 years and takes 300 years to die. This is a time scale that is alien to today’s production and consumption society” – Professor Petter Bergerud.
The King and Queen of Norway will attend a preview of “Inside Wood” on Friday, 8 April, and meet the press.
