About the project
The King’s Cross Central project involves the redevelopment of surplus railway land wedged between King’s Cross and St Pancras. According to Townshend Landscape Architects, the project is the most exciting and important development in the United Kingdom, providing an opportunity to regenerate the entire area.
The overall objective of the project plan is to redevelop the area as an accessible and integral part of the city. Townshend Landscape Architects were appointed as a key member of the project group with a view to developing a solution that would set the parameters for future development. The draft overall project plan was approved in April 2006. Townshend Landscape Architects were appointed to develop a detailed design for the public space, work on which started in 2007.
