About the project
Oslo Opera House receives over 1 million visitors each year – on the roof. Snøhetta is responsible for the project that has received honours and acclaim throughout the world.
The Opera House is located at the heart of Bjørvika on the Oslofjord. The marble roof is open to the public and resembles an iceberg rising up from the fjord.
In recent years Bjørvika has undergone one of the largest urban development projects in Oslo’s history. Traffic has been diverted into tunnels and the district has received around 5,000 new residential properties as well as 20,000 new jobs. There are plans to build the new Munch Museum and main library at the side of the Opera House.
Vestre has supplied outdoor furniture and wheeled litter bins for easy conveyance indoors.
