Our factories
Vestre Steel Factory in Torsby, Sweden
Situated in Värmland, Torsby, our steel factory is a symbol of modern architecture and sustainability. The factory was built in 2013 and designed by internationally renowned architects Snøhetta. Spanning 3,500 square meters, this facility is where some 40 employees breathe life into steel and aluminum. On sunny days, the solar panels on the roof enable us to be entirely self-sufficient with renewable energy.
Our location in Torsby is a strategic asset, with good access to qualified professionals. As a result of its very important automotive and defense industries, and giant steelworks like state-owned LKAB and SSAB, Sweden must be considered to be the leading player in Scandinavia within steel production. Moreover, the factory's strategic positioning along the essential E45 route optimizes logistics, facilitating seamless transportation to The Plus facility in Magnor, Norway.
In recent years, the Torsby factory has improved its productivity by well over 50 per cent, which has significantly boosted Vestre’s competitiveness. We have achieved this through employee-driven innovation and substantial investments in automation and new technology. Quicker production also means more sustainable production.
The Plus in Magnor, Norway
The Plus—the world’s most environmentally friendly furniture factory—opened in Magnor, Norway, in 2022. Spanning 7,000 square meters, this facility has become a symbol of sustainable innovation. The factory plays a pivotal role in fostering community development, currently employing 40 individuals with the capacity for 70.
Designed by the esteemed Bjarke Ingels Group, The Plus is conceived as the direct translation of logistics into architecture. The four production areas – Colour Factory, Wood Factory, Assembly and Warehouse – are arrayed around a central courtyard that forms the very heart of the building.
The Plus, the world's first factory to earn the highest BREEAM rating, "Outstanding," reduces energy consumption by 60% and greenhouse gas emissions by 55% compared to conventional factories. Its almost 900 solar panels generate about 250,000 kWh of renewable energy annually.
But The Plus is more than just a production facility: It is a meeting place for locals and visitors alike, inviting people to explore and learn. Embodying the Norwegian "right to roam" principle, it offers public access to its green roof and the surrounding area, the Forest Camp, promoting sustainable living.
